U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.); George Fraser, chairman and chief executive officer of FraserNet Inc., and Kelvin Boston, executive producer and host of PBS’ “MoneyWise,” will be among the several leading financial experts covering a range of financial topics during the forum. Titled “Taking Control of Your Financial Destiny,” the event is part of a national series of financial forums sponsored by the Foundation and Citi. The topics will include developing a spending plan to pre-planning for home ownership to preserving assets, all with the goal of creating economic empowerment and building personal wealth. A youth track for ages 16-19 and a session for small business owners about options available for business expansion are also planned. “The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation has worked hard over the years to close the economic gaps between the success of African Americans and other Americans,” said Elsie L. Scott, the Foundation’s president and chief executive officer. “This forum is designed to not only bring these and other financial matters to the forefront with expert advice and solutions, but also to provide applicable information that will benefit you in the days ahead.” The workshop will also feature presentations by local representatives from the Community Housing Development Corporation and Consumer Credit Counseling Services. “We hope this forum will help all attendees take the next step in controlling their financial destiny and we welcome the opportunity to partner with them as they embark upon this most important journey,” said Eric V. Eve, senior vice president for global community relations at Citi and a member of the Foundation’s board of directors. About the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation is a non-partisan, non-profit, public policy, research and educational institute intended to broaden and elevate the influence of African Americans in the political, legislative and public policy arenas.
