The CBC Spouse Celebration of Leadership in the Fine Arts event traditionally serves as the kick-off affair for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s (CBCF) Annual Legislative Conference (ALC), a gathering that attracts up to 20,000 people to the Washington, D.C. area each year. This event recognizes the significant contributions of individuals in the Visual and Performing Arts, as well as corporate leaders, former CBC Spouses, and those citizens who have demonstrated leadership in the area of lifting up and supporting young people and improving the general quality of life for all people. The proceeds of this event are used to fund scholarship programs in two areas, performing and visual arts. The students who have been selected to win the scholarships are flown in from across the United States to perform or exhibit their art works and to accept their respective scholarship awards.
