New Orleans Resident Garners Prestigious Position on Washington DC Council
In announcing the appointment, Congressman William J. Jefferson (D-LA) who Chairs the Foundation Board of Directors said, “Mr. Webb is an extraordinary talent, and we are very fortunate that he has agreed to Chair our Corporate Advisory Council. He brings the kind of background and experience to this position that will very quickly help the Foundation reach its goal of becoming a world-class, international public policy institute.” After joining Entergy in 1999 as a Senior Vice President of External Affairs, Mr. Webb led the firm’s activities in system and governmental affairs, regulatory affairs, employee communications, corporate contributions, public relations, and external communications. He was also instrumental in executing the strategy in New York State that resulted in the selection of his firm as the purchaser of two nuclear power plants owned by the New York Port Authority. As Entergy’s strategic approach to philanthropy, Mr. Webb is leading the effort to form a strong bond between corporate giving and the company’s business goals and objectives. He and his wife Theora were recently honored for their work in corporate philanthropy by Green Chimneys, a residential program for troubled youth in Westchester County, New York. CBCF President Weldon J. Rougeau hailed the appointment as a great opportunity for the Foundation to accelerate its growth and development. “Our organization is poised to make a tremendous, positive impact on the lives of its customers and stakeholders. Mr. Webb brings a vast amount of know-how to this position, and we expect to make good use of his personal and professional expertise. In our newly-configures organization, the leadership and involvement of our CAC is critical,” said Mr. Rougeau. Mr. Rougeau commented on the selection further by stating that
the knowledge and insight that Mr. Webb could provide to the Foundation
on its Corporate Advisory Council would help the organization
build its infrastructure. Mr. Webb was instrumental in creating
the Entergy Charitable Foundation in 2000. The CBCF serves as a nonpartisan, policy-oriented catalyst to educate future leaders and promote collaboration among community and business leaders, minority-focused organizational leaders, and organized labor to effect positive and substantive change in the African American community.
