President’s Message
The name Congressional Black Caucus Foundation has been synonymous with leadership education and public policy information for three decades. From our earliest days, CBCF’s founders envisioned a prolific organization that would stimulate growth and equity in black communities by channeling our focus into the legislative and public policy arenas. CBCF provides an African American perspective on public policy through the publication of fact sheets, policy briefs, and policy papers and through periodic policy forums and workshops. Our major event each year is the Annual Legislative Conference that attracts thousands of attendees to sessions to discuss the current issues facing the African American community. Our programs consistently touch lives in extraordinary ways. Thousands of students have received millions of dollars in scholarships. More than 150 interns and scores of fellows have gained unequaled experience working in congressional member and committee offices—enhancing their marketability in the job force. A number of graduating seniors and African -American families have become first-time homebuyers through our SHOP and With Ownership and Wealth initiatives. With a focus on leadership education, economic development, and public health, CBCF has become a major force in this country. To accomplish such a great feat, we have built a dynamic pool of quality programs and services geared toward empowering black people and other underserved populations. Our efforts are supported by members of the Congressional Black Caucus and our generous donors. The valuable time CBC members willingly offer our youth and the ideas and issues they champion on behalf of black communities everywhere is crucial. We are especially grateful to our donors, who even in difficult economic times have maintained their obligation of civic duty, supporting us as we educate the public and mentor burgeoning leaders. CBCF will continual to seek new and better ways to support our stakeholders, our customers, and our community. |
