The panel will include:- Dr. Melissa Harris-Perry, MSNBC TV Reps. John Lewis (Ga); Mel Watt (NC); and Marcia Fudge (Ohio) Donna Brazile - DNC Vice Chair of Voter Registration Dr. Marc Lamont Hill - CNN Commentator, Crystal Wright - Conservative Columnist; Ron Christie - Republican Political Strategist. We will have an area reserved for bloggers this event. · The Education Braintrust -- Will examine the role of individuals, community organizations, businesses and institutions outside of the traditional education sphere as they partner with educators to help improve the education system for our children and youth. · Veterans Braintrust – One of the major components of the president's Economic Recovery Program is the Veteran Jobs Bill - an initiative gives incentives to companies that hire veteran workers. However according to a research study many companies have issues with hiring veterans because of their lack of experience and not having the correct skill set. This session will focus on economic engagement, training and employment opportunities for veterans. · Human Trafficking. The Domestic and International Impact -- Human trafficking particularly sex trafficking is one of the most egregious human rights violations today, and is often referred to as modern day slavery. The International Black Women's Public Policy Institute examines the domestic face of sex trafficking which is targeting girls as young as 12 for sex slavery. · Phoenix Awards Dinner -- George Lucas, Former Charlotte Mayor Harvey Gantt and Rep. Corrine Brown of Florida will receive the prestigious Phoenix Award which recognizes individuals for their efforts and accomplishments that have made significant contributions to society, and symbolizes the immortality of the human spirit and an eternal desire to reach its full potential.
