A salute to the congressional black caucus of the 110th congress
The vision
of the founding members of the CBC to "promote the public welfare through
legislation designed to meet the needs of millions of neglected citizens"
continues to be a beacon and focal point for the legislative work and political
activities of the Congressional Black Caucus today.

The legacy of our nation's
black lawmakers dates back to Reconstruction and emerged in full force when
13 courageous souls founded the Congressional Black Caucus in 1971.
Today, CBC members have
unprecedented influence in Congress. Several serve as chairmen of important
House committees while many more lead subcommittees. Another, Rep. James
E. Clyburn, is the third ranking member of the House, and the lone black
U.S. senator, Barack Obama, is the 2008 Democratic nominee for president.
The Congressional Black
Caucus Foundation proudly presents Continuing the Legacy: A Salute to
the Congressional Black Caucus of the 110th Congress as a keepsake
for all those who value the CBC and its impact across the world.
