Letters of Recommendation
In order for an application to be considered complete, three letters of recommendation must be submitted. At least one letter of recommendation must be written by a dean, department chair, academic advisor, or employer. Letters must be on official letterhead, state the recommender’s title, and provide contact information. Make sure your recommender signs the envelope seal. All three letters and an official transcript must be sent in one envelope to the CBC Foundation Leadership Institute.
Tips for Submitting Strong Letters of Recommendation:
1. Ask for the letter of application early because your recommender must give you the letter for submittal. Letters and transcripts must be received by deadline not postmarked.
2. Share with your recommender the description of the program and ask your recommender to specifically address how the program might complement your academic and work experiences, especially if you have experience working on specific policy issues.
3. Ask your recommender to include an assessment of your interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, professionalism, and your ability to work autonomously or in groups.
