CBCF To Launch Economic Recovery Forums

CBCF is launching a series of forums to help local residents understand how their tax dollars will be reinvested in their communities through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The series will begin in Miami on Saturday, July 18. Rep. Kendrick Meek of Florida will join state and local officials and national experts to discuss the impact of funding on employment, community development, education, and health initiatives in the district.

CBCF Welcomes Congressional Summer Interns

CBCF welcomes 45 undergraduate students to its Summer Congressional Internship Program. The program is described as one of the top preparatory experiences in Washington, D.C. The intensive nine-week agenda ultimately prepares the next generation to be decision makers in the policy making process. In addition to providing analysis on various legislative issues, the interns will interact daily with Congressional Black Caucus members and staff, create a community action plan and develop a professional portfolio.

CBCF Releases Resource Guide on Recovery Act for African Americans

CBCF has released a resource guide for African Americans on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The guide is designed to inform African Americans about the economic opportunities for individuals and families under the Act. It also shows how funding streams will be distributed to revitalize and strengthen local communities nationwide. The guide is available in PDF.
