Internships & Fellowships

Leadership Institute for Public Service

The Leadership Institute for Public Service prepares the next generation to take its place in community service and policy development arenas. The Leadership Institute's primary goal is to increase the pool of black leaders in community-based programs and public service careers. The Leadership Institute offers numerous educational and leadership development programs for individuals ranging from high school students through young adults (generally ages 40 and under). Participants are provided with opportunities to learn the inner workings of Congress, explore public service and public policy careers, discuss current events and policy initiatives and see close up leadership at its very best by working with and learning from Congressional Black Caucus members.

Internships & Fellowships

CBCF's internship and fellowship programs prepare college students and young professionals to become principled leaders, skilled policy analysts, and informed advocates by exposing them to the processes by which national policies are developed and implemented on Capitol Hill and in the federal government.

Program participants receive housing, a stipend, office placements, and opportunities to meet and interact with professional politicos and leaders working in all branches of government. Additionally, they are eligible for scholarships for prestigious public policy graduate programs, such as the University of California-Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy, UC Hastings College of the Law, and they are actively recruited by executive branch agencies such as the State Department and the Office of Management and Budget.
