Schedule and AgendaSpirit of Healthy Living (SoHL) The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation commenced its Spirit of Healthy Living program in 2010. SoHL is comprised of a family-oriented Wellness and Diabetes Day, and a three-month, church-based health improvement project. These initiatives, presented by SoHL’s church partners, aim to educate congregants and community members about type 2 diabetes and behaviors that can reduce risk factors associated with the preventable disease. Diabetic participants also benefit by learning how to better manage the condition through improved dietary and active living practices as well as medical compliance.
SoHL Wellness and Diabetes Days serve as kick-off events for the educational initiatives, which offer free online health counseling and weekly healthy living sessions to attendees. The Spirit of Healthy Living will be presented in Greenville, North Carolina on August 6, 2011 and in Jackson, Mississippi on November 12, 2011. We invite you to check this page and our event calendar regularly for updates about upcoming programs.
Previous SoHL Wellness and Diabetes Day Events We extend a special note of appreciation to the CBC members, faith partners, presenters, exhibitors, volunteers and attendees who have participated in our diabetes awareness programs. Images from SoHL's kick-off events follow for your enjoyment.
