CBCF Statement on Board Member DeDe Lea’s Appointment to New Role at ViacomCBS

WASHINGTON — The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) issued the following statement regarding Ms. Lea’s promotion.

CBCF Board Member Doretha “DeDe” Lea has been named executive vice president, Global Public Policy and Government Relations of ViacomCBS, effective upon closing of the proposed merger between Viacom and CBS.

Since 2013, Ms. Lea has served as Viacom’s executive vice president, Global Government Affairs. Pending the expected merger later this year, Ms. Lea will oversee all of ViacomCBS’ domestic and international government affairs and public policy work and initiatives. She will report to Bob Bakish who will serve as ViacomCBS president and CEO upon merger close.

Board Member Lea previously served as Viacom’s executive vice president, Government Relations beginning in 2005. Her career at Viacom began in 1997 as vice president of Government Relations, and continued as the department’s senior vice president. Prior to joining Viacom, Ms. Lea was vice president of Government Affairs for television broadcasting company Belo Corporation, and formerly, senior vice president of Government Relations for the National Association of Broadcasters.
