SUMMARY:Health Equity Virtual Summit
DESCRIPTION:Register Today \nThe Congressional Black Caucus Foundation\, Inc. (CBCF) will host the 2022 Health Equity Summit to engage in an in-depth discussion about the cultural and societal contributors to Black health in the U.S. and abroad. This two-part summit will gather some of the nation’s most brilliant medical minds\, prominent thought leaders\, and members of the Congressional Black Caucus to engage and provide insight\, guidance\, and resources around the global Black community’s most critical health issues. \nSession One: Black Maternal Health Global to Local \nThursday\, May 12\, 2022\, 11 AM – 12 PM ET \nWhile low resource countries face barriers that impede access to quality care\, developed countries throughout the diaspora also have records of preventable Black maternal mortality and poor Black maternal health. Globally\, an estimated 810 women die each day due to complications of pregnancy and childbirth\, according to World Health Organization reports. In this panel\, thought leaders and medical professionals discuss the cultural and societal contributors to poor Black maternal health in the U.S. and abroad. \nSession Two: Heavy Heart: The Impact of Heart Disease on Black Communities \nThursday\, May 12\, 2022\, 2 PM – 3 PM ET \nAccording to recent data from the Center for Disease Control (CDC)\, African Americans ages 18-49 are 2 times as likely to die from heart disease than whites. In this session\, we will discuss cardiology in Black patients\, methods of reducing risk\, and spread awareness about socioeconomic risk factors increasing susceptibility to heart disease. \nCBCF Research and Publications: \n\nBlack Health and Wealth: Understanding the Intricate Linkages between Income\, Health\, and Wealth for African Americans\n\nDownload The Media Toolkit \n\nJoin CPAR\, and CBCF for a virtual summit series that provides attendees the opportunity to engage in an in-depth discussion with subject-matter experts\, the most brilliant medical minds\, and members of the Congressional Black Caucus on Black Maternal Health: Global to Local and Heavy Heart: The Impact of Heart Disease on Black Communities. \nFollow us on social media to stay connected and in the know!
