Anne-Marie Burton

Vice President, Programs

Anne-Marie Burton is the Vice President of Programs at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF).

Ms. Burton oversees the strategic development and implementation of all CBCF program functions for existing and new program areas, including public health.

Prior to joining CBCF, Ms. Burton led Aspire Solutions, LLC, a leading public health leadership development company. She served as the National Director of Field Advancement & Capacity Building with the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), providing communications and strategic leadership for increasing capacity and sustainability for NAMI’s affiliate and state organizations.

Ms. Burton has worked in organizational management, specializing in areas of member relations, governance, strategic partnerships, professional interest sections, and lifelong learning. Other areas of expertise include professional development, advocacy, customer service, data management, conference planning and logistics, exhibit sales, and communications/marketing.

As the Chief of Member Engagement, Outreach and Partnerships at the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), she oversaw leadership and partnership development, program development and execution, federal grant management and organizational strategy.

Ms. Burton earned a Master of Science degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University and graduated with honors from the University of Reading (Reading, UK) with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Politics. Her continuing education includes Adaptive Leadership Frameworks by Cambridge Leadership Associates; Negotiation Strategies by Cooper & Lybrand; and Marketing Strategies by Boots Pharmaceuticals LTD. Ms. Burton extensively researched issues of conflict and conflict management and presented a paper at the Model United Nations on the conflict in Sierra Leone. While working on her dissertation, she visited the European Union and worked with the Defense Investment Division at NATO headquarters.
