Foreign Policy Fellow
Nkechi Ilechie is a Nigerian-American born in the United States. She is a graduate of Drexel University where she obtained her Master’s degree in Global and International Education with a concentration in Education Policy. She completed a policy research internship with the Anne Arundel County (MD) Executive. As a policy research intern, she led the effort to establish a youth advisory board that was charged with advising the county executive about challenges, concerns, and needs of youth, and recommended strategies to meet those needs. Nkechi also worked with the Chief Administrative Officer of Human and Health services to develop an immigrant affairs commission, which was the first of its kind in the county. Recently, she completed an internship with Congressional Black Caucus Foundation working in office of Senator Chris Coons (D-DE). This position enhanced her knowledge of the legislative process and inspired her goal to become a policy advisor. She believes policy and laws are the foundation to reform our social world.
