Social Justice Fellow
Passion for community development and social justice drives Javon to seek opportunities to alleviate the negative effects of historically discriminatory policy. His non-profit roots connect him to the community through several prominent organizations, sitting on multiple boards including the regional United Way, and even chairing one, their young professional arm, Atlantic Circle.
As his interest in policy developed, his reach expanded across other community sectors, including affordable housing, criminal justice and education, striving to learn and impact. He was appointed to the City of Jacksonville Community Based Crime Reduction Committee, the Urban Land Institutes Affordable Housing & Development Committee and Young Leaders Group, and is a founding board member of the anticipated K-5 Becoming Collegiate Academy. Consequently, his interest in legislative development also deepened, leading him to join the policy team of multiple campaigns, a Government Relations internship and internships with various local policy leaders.
Javon’s goal is to positively impact his community through quality policy development and civic engagement, inevitably he looks toward elected office in his future. He holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, specializing in Economics from the University of North Florida, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Jacksonville University.
