Noelle Lewis

Noelle Lewis earned a Master of Public Affairs (MPA), with a focus on sustainability, from Brown University. She also holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in International and Public Affairs, as well as Africana Studies, from Brown University. Noelle’s academic areas of concentration were humanitarian assistance, East Asian politics and African-American history.

Noelle served as a Research Fellow with Brown University’s Africa Initiative, producing research on the impacts of climate change on water, sanitation and hygiene in Port Loko City, Sierra Leone. As part of her MPA, Noelle worked as a Policy-in-Action Analyst with the Alliance for Climate Transition, creating policies to support New England’s transition to a carbon-neutral economy. In her internship with the Virtual Student Federal Service Program, Noelle worked as an Open-Source Intelligence Analyst for the U.S. Embassy in Kampala, Uganda, analyzing traditional and non-traditional security threats ranging from crime to the danger posed by climate change.

Outside of academic and professional pursuits, Noelle played NCAA Division I Women’s Rugby at Brown. She also served as Brown’s representative to the Ivy League Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in addition to other SAAC Executive Committee positions. Noelle was raised in Trinidad, Kenya and Hong Kong, and now calls Virginia home.

Noelle is currently the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Energy Fellow in Congressman Shri Thanedar’s (D-MI) office. After completing her Fellowship, Noelle plans to continue her work at the intersection of sustainability and racial equity
