WASHINGTON — “The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc., (CBCF) joins the nation and the world in mourning the loss of literary icon and Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison. Morrison’s voice gave validation to many and insight to others about the complexities of being black in America. She was undeniably one of the greatest writers of her generation. Her understanding of race and its role in both history and culture in our country’s varied political climate allowed her stories to explore how the past affects our daily lives.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Toni Morrison challenged us all to make a difference about something other than ourselves; this will not only endure; it will continue to push us forward.”
